Domestic Crisis Group (DCG) recorded this single in L.A. with producer / musician Vincent Leslie Jones (www.vincentlesliejones.com), whose credits include work with Sarah McLachlan, the Cowboy Junkies, and Dave Gahan. Michael Jerome, grammy winning drummer for Richard Thompson, Better Than Ezra, and Blind Boys of Alabama, also lent his drummiing talents to the track.
Domestic Crisis Group is the duo of Genevieve Blouin (vocals) and Dane Ratliff (guitar). They have been getting great reviews for their self-produced and released debut EP, Two Tired Hearts, and recently won a spot as a Finalist in an EMI Music competition. Their song “the Distance” is in rotation on CBC Radio 3, and their EP has charted on campus radio stations across Canada.
DCG’s songs take a modern view of social problems through old-school songwriting, catchy riffs, and a style that’s been dubbed “melancountry”. Blouin’s voice has been compared to Lucinda Williams and Suzanne Vega, and Ratliff’s classically influenced fingerpicking style to Chet Atkins. DCG plans to release a new EP in late 2011.
